Since settling in and raising my family in the beautiful Clearwater area where we are surrounded by some of nature’s most spectacular backdrops, I knew I wanted to make showing off this spectacular setting a priority. I wanted to offer support and services to anyone looking to create lasting memories through a special event, both to those who reside here and in the surrounding areas as well as to those who are visiting and experiencing everything our gorgeous corner of the world has to offer.
Creating lasting and supportive relationships with local vendors and venues is a top priority at Living In Love. Not only does this allow me to cultivate an environment of mutual support and collaboration but ensures that I can knowingly and wholeheartedly provide my clients with vendors, that I truly believe, will help to create lasting memories.
December 28th was a dream—Kelsey and Braden’s wedding was one for the books. Small, intimate, simple, yet so incredibly romantic. When Kelsey first came to me with her vision, I knew this was going to be something truly special. She wanted an elopement-style micro wedding, a moment suspended in time with only 25 of their closest loved ones. Together, we brought that vision to life.
The ceremony was set to take place on the breathtaking new lookout platform at Helmcken Falls in Wells Gray Provincial Park. The road to get there was icy and blanketed in fresh snow, but that only added to the magic of the day. My team and I braved the elements, arriving ahead of the wedding party to prepare the space. There was no need for over-the-top décor—nature itself provided the most spectacular backdrop. Towering evergreens dusted with snow, the frozen mist of the falls, and the vast wilderness stretching beyond the horizon created an atmosphere of untouched beauty. We added just a few carefully chosen details to enhance the moment, ensuring the scene sparkled in all the right ways.
As we pulled in, the local road maintenance crew arrived behind us, plowing and sanding the roads to make them safe for our couple and their families. Shuswap Adams Parks staff had also gone ahead to ensure the trails were in perfect condition. Even the sightseers passing through stopped to admire the setup, enjoying the rare glimpse of love unfolding in such a public yet deeply personal way.
For those who may not know, public spaces like this can’t be closed for private events. Getting married at a stunning natural landmark means embracing the presence of others—it’s part of the charm. Once Kelsey and Braden arrived, we placed a sign marking a half-hour ceremony window, letting visitors know an elopement was taking place. They had the freedom to come and go as they pleased, but most were more than happy to stand back and let the magic unfold. My team took their positions, and I stood by with hot chocolate and whipped cream in hand—purchased for the occasion—to keep the sightseers warm and engaged while they waited for the ceremony to end. A little hospitality goes a long way, and keeping ceremonies short and sweet ensures that onlookers are happy to give space while still feeling included in the experience.
Then, the music began, and the ceremony commenced. As the vows were spoken, a quiet crowd gathered beyond the lookout, watching from a respectful distance, their breath visible in the crisp winter air. Among them was a couple who had gotten engaged at that very spot years ago. Watching their faces as they witnessed another love story unfold through the trees was something straight out of a movie—serendipitous, heartwarming, pure magic.
The ceremony was sweet, heartfelt, and perfect. Once Kelsey and Braden sealed their vows with a kiss, we gave the signal for the onlookers to return to the platform, inviting them to take in the falls and celebrate alongside the wedding party. The kindness and warmth of strangers that day was something I will never forget.
With the ceremony complete, my team raced down to Clearwater Ski Hill to bring the next part of the evening to life. Every light was turned on, and the glow of hundreds of flameless candles filled the space with a soft, flickering warmth. As the newlyweds and their guests arrived, they were greeted by an exquisite grazing table, mulled wine, and hot toddies—each sip a welcome comfort against the winter chill.
Meanwhile, the team at Gateway Grill was busy in the kitchen, filling the air with the rich aromas of the incredible meal to come. Every detail of the reception was designed to allow the couple to simply be present and enjoy—no stress, no work, just love and celebration. The decor, the setup, and even the serving of dinner, done family-style, was seamlessly handled by Living in Love Events.
The night was filled with laughter, music, and the kind of joy that lingers long after the last song fades. From impromptu party singing to heartfelt toasts and the gentle twinkle of lights dancing across the snow, it was a night to remember for everyone involved. For my team, for the vendors, for the couple, and for every guest who gathered to witness this beautiful love story unfold, it was nothing short of magical.
To Kelsey and Braden—thank you for trusting me with your vision and allowing Living in Love Events to curate your dream day. It was an honor to bring your fairytale to life.
A special thanks to Tim Hortons Clearwater for providing the hot chocolate that helped warm the wonderful sightseers while they waited for the ceremony to end. Huge gratitude to Argo Road Maintenance – North Thompson for their incredible attention to detail on the roads, ensuring everyone’s safety, and to Shuswap Adams Parks Ltd. staff for their dedication to maintaining the park and lookout.
